ASEAN and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines will co-convene the ASEAN High-Level Conference on Assistance for the Recovery of Yolanda-Affected Areas (ARYA) on Thursday, 14 August 2014, 09:00 – 13:00 at the Army Officers Club, Taguig City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

The high-level conference is organised to gather new support that would assist the Government of the Philippines in implementing its national and local recovery and rehabilitation plans. Different stakeholders are also invited to discuss the current situation of the affected communities, the assistance initiatives being implemented and different forms of assistance needed for the recovery and building of more resilient communities.

The conference will be followed by the ASEAN Community Rebuilding Technical Workshop in the afternoon. This workshop will bring together local chief executives from communities affected by Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda to share and discuss best practices and strategies in building more resilient communities. Presenters from Indonesia, Myanmar, and Thailand are also invited to share their experience in this conference.
