JAKARTA, 24 February 2016 – H.E. Yang Houlan, Secretary-General of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) yesterday called on H.E. Le Luong Minh, Secretary-General of ASEAN, at the ASEAN Secretariat.
Secretary-General Yang gave an update on latest developments in Trilateral Cooperation, a regional mechanism to forge greater collaboration among China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK). The TCS is based in Seoul, the ROK.
He said that the progress in ASEAN Plus Three cooperation, involving ASEAN and China, Japan and the ROK, would serve as good basis to forge closer collaboration between the TCS and the ASEAN Secretariat.
Secretary-General Minh took the opportunity to commend the improvement in relations among the Plus Three countries with the resumption of the Trilateral Summit in November 2015. He looked forward to enhanced cooperation among the Plus Three countries which would further contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the region. He acknowledged the commitment and intention of the TCS to enhance relations with the ASEAN Secretariat through collaborative activities such as seminars and workshops to support the ASEAN Plus Three cooperation, among others.
Secretary-General Minh also shared with Secretary-General Yang the progress of ASEAN Community-building, highlighting the priorities of ASEAN in 2016 which is the first year of implementing the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and its Blueprints.
