The ASEAN-Korea Centre organised the 3rd ASEAN-Korea Multimedia Competition under the theme “Future Image” between April and May 2011. Over 900 photographic and video artworks presenting multi-faceted images of ASEAN today and tomorrow were submitted by university students and young artists from ASEAN Member States and Korea.
The winners of the 2011 ASEAN-Korea Multimedia Competition are Hassnal Adam Raasalhague Sulainan (Brunei Darussalam), Hoeng Keomakara (Cambodia), Willis Turner Henry (Indonesia), Ahn Sungseok (Korea), Thanavorakit Kounthawatphinyo (Lao PDR), Haris Abadi (Malaysia), Poe Sandar Lin (Myanmar), Geric Cruz (Philippines), Wu Siyi (Singapore), Chanathip Keawsuk (Thailand), and Linh Duong (Vietnam). For selecting the winning entries, renowned curators and experts from ASEAN Member States and Korea have participated in this year’s competition as judges.
The winners will be invited to Korea for the multimedia workshop and seminar which are joined by prominent professors and curators and also to the exhibition of winning entries to be held from 28 July – 14 August at the Palais de Seoul, a gallery in Seoul Korea. These artworks will also be exhibited online.
The 2011 ASEAN-Korea Multimedia Competition is supported by ASEAN, ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information, ASEAN University Network, Alternative Space LOOP and Hongik University. ASEAN-Korea Centre is an intergovernmental organization established in March of 2009 to promote economic and socio-cultural cooperation between ASEAN and Korea.
