Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, yesterday delivered a lecture on ASEAN’s evolution as a Community at the University of Chile. In his lecture, SG Dr. Kao provided the context of ASEAN’s founding and objective of ensuring that countries in the region are free from conflict through the pursuit of economic development. He also shared ASEAN’s achievements and ongoing efforts in maintaining its role as the driving force in shaping the regional architecture amidst the changing strategic environment, including through the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP). SG Dr. Kao also highlighted the untapped potentials that ASEAN and Chile could do together to advance their cooperation in the years ahead.
