JAKARTA, 20 March 2024 – The 72nd Meeting of the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Task Force convened today at the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC). The meeting served as a pivotal platform for fostering collaboration and advancing initiatives to promote inclusive growth and the narrowing of development gap within ASEAN. The IAI Task Force members from all ASEAN Member States, Ambassador of Timor-Leste to ASEAN and ASEC representatives attended the meeting.
Ambassador Aung Myo Myint, the Permanent Representative of Myanmar to ASEAN, as Chair of the Task Force, reminded that the IAI Work Plan IV (2021-2025) has entered its fourth year of implementation. He urged for stronger collaboration among Task Force members in ensuring successful implementation of the Work Plan.
Key agenda items discussed included a review of the implementation status of projects under the IAI Work Plan IV (2021-2025) and the ongoing projects from the previous Work Plan. The Task Force accredited 16 new projects as IAI projects with 11 projects supported by Singapore, while the remaining projects are supported by Germany, Australia, China, Japan. The meeting further exchanged views on the progress of the Priority Economic Deliverable (PED) on Reframing Strategies for Narrowing Development Gap, which is a flagship initiative under Lao PDR ASEAN’s Chairmanship 2024 led by the IAI Task Force and supported by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA).
