JAKARTA, 22 November 2021 – The 9th ASEAN Competition Conference will take place on 1-2 December virtually. With the theme, “Safeguarding competition – A post pandemic response of ASEAN competition authorities”, the conference shall discuss, among others, the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic to ASEAN markets and the important role of competition in the regional economic recovery. It will also cover relevant topics, such as:
   (i)     maintaining business compliance;
  (ii)     increasing importance of competition policy for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the post-pandemic era;
 (iii)      the rapid shift towards the digital economy and the risk to competition enforcement; and
 (iv)      strengthening cooperation in anticipation of future crisis.

Hosted by Viet Nam, the conference will feature winning papers from the ASEAN- Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA) Competition Law Essay Contest. It will also be attended by prominent competition law enforcers and experts from within and outside the region.
