Approximately 100 representatives from the governments, businesses and academia of ASEAN Member States, China, Japan, Republic of Korea and officials from the ASEAN Secretariat attended the 9th East Asia Forum in Chengdu on Friday. This year’s Forum, themed “Accelerating Regional Integration: Internal Growth Engine of East Asia”, also covered extensive and interactive discussions on regional market, connectivity infrastructure, and industrial match-making and transfer.

The Forum has become an important platform for the ASEAN Plus Three countries to discuss key issues, build consensus, promote cooperation and draw on their collective strength to implement existing initiatives. These countries also emphasised the centrality of ASEAN and expressed their support towards implementing the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity.
