Abstract

Effective infection prevention and control (IPC) help reduce healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), improve patient safety, combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and strengthen preparedness and response for outbreaks and pandemics. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) through the ASEAN Health Sector and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) collaborate through the ASEAN-US IPC Task Force to strengthen IPC in the region, guided by the ASEAN-U.S. IPC Task Force Work Plan 2023-2025 and under the umbrella of the ASEAN-U.S. Health Cooperation. To guide further improvements, an understanding of current regional IPC capacities at national and healthcare facility (HCF) levels is needed.
