Terms of Reference of the ASEAN-China Joint Science and Technology Committee(JSTC),

  1. The ASEAN-China Joint Science and Technology Committee (JSTC) shall advance ASEAN-China cooperation in the areas of science and technology. For this purpose, the JSTC shall plan, approve, coordinate, monitor and evaluate joint cooperative programmes and activities.
  2. The JSTC shall be composed of senior officials representing the State Science and Technology Commission (SSTC) of China and the ASEAN Committee on Science and Technology (COST).
  3. The JSTC shall meet normally every two years, alternately in China and ASEAN, unless otherwise mutually agreed upon. The meetings shall be co-chaired by China and ASEAN.
  4. The JSTC shall adopt its own procedural guidelines, including the setting up of appropriate working groups.
  5. The JSTC shall promote and encourage the participation of the private sector in its deliberation and activities as and when appropriate.
  6. The JSTC shall prepare an annual report of its activities.
