Dr Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary-General of ASEAN, today received the Letter of Credentials presented by Mr Rafael Conde de Saro, Ambassador of Spain to ASEAN, at the ASEAN Secretariat.

As the new Spanish Ambassador to ASEAN, Ambassador de Saro expressed his appreciation to ASEAN for welcoming his appointment and expressed his commitment to work toward strengthening the relations between ASEAN and Spain. He invited Dr Surin to deliver a talk at Spain’s Casa Asia, an important platform that brings together both the political and business communities in Barcelona and Madrid, in order to boost ASEAN awareness among these communities.

Dr Surin also recommended that the Spanish Mission to ASEAN work on promoting business-investors linkages in ASEAN through the promotion of workshops and forum to bring potential business opportunities from Spain to the region.
