JAKARTA, 6 August 2025 – Ambassador Martin Makururu today presented his Letter of Credence as the Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe to ASEAN to Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat.
Secretary-General Dr. Kao congratulated Ambassador Makururu on his assumption of office and looked forward to working closely with him and the Embassy of Zimbabwe in Jakarta to strengthen ASEAN-Zimbabwe relations. He encouraged Zimbabwe to explore opportunities for cooperation with ASEAN in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, tourism and business-to-business linkages.
Ambassador Martin Makururu underlined Zimbabwe’s interest in initiating its engagement with ASEAN and expressed his readiness to identify possible areas of cooperation with ASEAN and its Member States.
Zimbabwe has accredited its Ambassador to ASEAN since 2012. Ambassador Martin Makururu is the third Ambassador of Zimbabwe to ASEAN, succeeding Ambassador Sophia Nyamudeza, who completed her tenure in November 2022.
