Manila, 21 August 2026 – The National Youth Commission of the Philippines chaired the Fourteenth ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Youth (AMMY XIV) and Related Meetings, held virtually from 19 to 21 August 2026, with the participation of Youth Ministers and senior officials from ASEAN Member States, the Plus Three Countries, and partner organisations.

The Meetings reaffirmed ASEAN’s commitment to strengthening youth development and meaningful youth engagement as key pillars of ASEAN Community building. Ministers exchanged views on regional priorities and emerging challenges affecting young people, including employment, digital transformation, climate change, and well-being.

The Ministers adopted the ASEAN Work Plan on Youth 2026–2030, which will serve as the guiding regional framework for youth development and engagement over the next five years. The Work Plan seeks to advance a future-ready, resilient, and empowered ASEAN youth population through collaborative programmes and initiatives across ASEAN Member States. Ministers also noted the successful implementation of the ASEAN Work Plan on Youth 2021–2025 and expressed appreciation for the contributions of ASEAN sectoral bodies, dialogue partners, and partner organisations.

The AMMY XIV was followed by the Tenth ASEAN Plus Three Ministerial Meeting on Youth (10th AMMY+3) which brought together ASEAN, China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea to set priorities for the next five years, including cooperation on youth exchanges, skills development, entrepreneurship, digital innovation, and sustainable development. The Meeting underscored the importance of ASEAN Plus Three cooperation in providing broader opportunities for young people to contribute to regional growth and prosperity.

The Fifteenth ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Youth (SOMY XV), and the Fourteenth ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Youth Plus Three (14^th SOMY+3) were held prior to the AMMY XIV. The Open Session of the SOMY XV highlighted the value of partnerships in expanding the reach and impact of youth development initiatives at the community level and among young people across the region.

Across the Meetings, ASEAN Member States reaffirmed their shared commitment to empowering young people as active partners in realising the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. They underscored the importance of strengthening regional cooperation and creating enabling opportunities for ASEAN youth to contribute to the region’s continued development and prosperity.

The outcomes of the Meetings are reflected in the Joint Statement of AMMY XIV and the Joint Statement of the 10th AMMY+3.
