PHNOM PENH, 15 March 2024 – Representatives of accreditation body assessors in eight ASEAN Member States took part in a 4-day training course on “Measurement Uncertainty, Calibration, Method Validation and Sampling” in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The training was organised by Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) – the National Metrology Institute of Germany, in collaboration with the General Department of Accreditation of Cambodia.
The training course was aimed at technical assessors of ASEAN accreditation bodies who assess the conduct, reporting and evaluation of measurements by laboratories, to ensure compliance with the requirements of the standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017, for the decision rule.
At the course, participants learned about the concepts of measurement uncertainty, calibration, method validation, and sampling in a testing and calibration environment, enabling them to better assess testing and calibration laboratories. Participants also took the opportunity to share experiences and best practices during the course.
The training took place under the PTB ASEAN project “Strengthening the Quality Infrastructure in ASEAN” as part of the ASEAN Consultative Committee on Standards and Quality (ACCSQ) Working Group on Conformity Assessment (WG 2).
The project aims to support ASEAN Member States to take concerted action to address development gaps in the field of Quality Infrastructure (QI), with a focus on countries of the Initiative of ASEAN Integration (IAI).
