The 2nd Meeting of the ASEAN Cross-Sectoral Coordination Committee on Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance (ACSCC on DRFI) was held on 8 February 2017 in Davao, the Philippines.
The Meeting was briefed on the progress on the implementation of the ASEAN DRFI Roadmap and Programme, notably the development of a regional damage-and-loss database, including its technical arrangements and the options for sustainability of an disaster impacts databank. The relevant challenges of such a proposed database would be further discussed at the ASEAN Disaster Impacts Database Workshop on 28 February – 2 March 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Meeting further noted the update of the public policy development country-study for the Philippines and Thailand, including the inclusion of the knowledge management and training component to the draft communications strategy and capacity needs assessment.
The Meeting also exchanged views on the next phase of the Programme, which will focus on the considerations and pre-conditions for establishing a regional risk insurance pool in the region.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Herminio C. Runas Jr., Director of International Finance Policy Office, Department of Finance (DOF) of the Philippines and was attended by members of the ACSCC on DRFI from the ASEAN Insurance Regulators Meeting, ASEAN Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting and ASEAN Secretariat. It was organized by the DOF with support from the ASEAN DRFI Programme Team.
