JAKARTA, 28 May 2024 – The 73rd Meeting of the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Task Force was held today, participated by the IAI Task Force members from all ASEAN Member States, with Timor-Leste attending as an observer. The meeting focused on reviewing ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing regional integration and promoting inclusive growth.
Chaired by Ambassador Aung Myo Myint, the Permanent Representative of Myanmar to ASEAN, the meeting covered key topics including the implementation status of the current 91 projects under the IAI Work Plan IV (2021-2025), updates on the Priority Economic Deliverable (PED) on Reframing Strategies for Narrowing Development Gap (NDG) under Lao PDR’s ASEAN Chairmanship this year, and discussions on embedding of the ASEAN NDG agenda in the ASEAN Community Vision Post-2025 Strategic Plans.
As the IAI Work Plan IV (2021-2025) progresses into its penultimate year of implementation, Ambassador Aung Myo Myint emphasised the importance of enhanced collaboration among Task Force members to ensure the successful implementation of the Work Plan. The meeting also underscored the significance of collective efforts in driving progress and achieving equitable development across the ASEAN region.
