Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs AKP Mochtan received Ulla Tørnæs, Danish Minister for Development Cooperation, at the ASEAN Secretariat today.
Minister Ulla acknowledged the important role of ASEAN in coordinating collective efforts in the region to address regional and global environmental issues. She further emphasised Denmark’s commitment to working with ASEAN and sharing its experiences in environmental management, particularly in the field of energy, waste and water.
Minister Ulla also expressed support to the ASEAN’s initiative on reducing marine litter in ASEAN region as a commemorative activity of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN, 40th Anniversary of ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations, as well as to the Year of the Ocean 2017.
DSG Mochtan reiterated that environmental issues are high on ASEAN’s agenda and welcomed Denmark’s interest to collaborate with ASEAN.
