ASEAN Honours Enterprises for Excellence and Best Practices in Occupational Safety and Health

Singapore, 11 September 2024– Today, the Fifth ASEAN Occupational Safety and Health Network (OSHNET) Awards recognised eighteen enterprises nominated by the labour ministries of ASEAN Member States for their excellence and best practices in promoting safety and health standards in their workplaces.

In his remarks, Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn congratulated the awardees for their achievements in contributing towards safer work environments and the overall wellbeing and productivity of the ASEAN workforce. He reaffirmed that the ASEAN-OSHNET Awards represent the region’s shared values, commitment and call for action to continue striving towards the highest standards of safety and health at work in ASEAN.

The ASEAN-OSHNET Excellence Awards were presented to ten enterprises with excellence standard and management of their OSH systems. These were Haji Adinin and Sons (B) Sdn. Bhd. (Brunei Darussalam), Khmer Beverages Co. Ltd. (Cambodia), PT Adaro Indonesia (Indonesia), Nam Theun 2 Power Company Limited (Lao PDR), Shaziman Transport Sdn. Bhd. (Malaysia), Dagon Beverages Company Limited (Myanmar), SN Aboitiz Power – Benguet, Inc. (The Philippines), Lendlease Singapore Pte. Ltd. (Singapore), Siam Glass Industry Company Limited (Thailand), and Newtecons Investment Construction Joint Stock Company (Viet Nam).

In addition, the ASEAN-OSHNET Best Practices Awards were presented to eight small- and medium-sized enterprises with exemplary occupational safety and health practices. These were Megamas Training Company Sdn. Bhd. (Brunei Darussalam), Hi-Tech Apparel Co. Ltd. (Cambodia), CV INBI Nusantara Sejahtera (Indonesia), Sunway Paving Solutions Sdn. Bhd. (Malaysia), CP Livestock Co. Ltd. (Myanmar), Raffles Quay Asset Management Pte. Ltd. (Singapore) CPF (Thailand) Public Company Limited (Thankasem Feedmill) (Thailand), and Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Soft Drink Joint Stock Company (Viet Nam).

The ASEAN-OSHNET Awards first began in 2016 and have since continuously exhibited enterprises which have set high standards of occupational health and safety. These awards signify the commitment of ASEAN to promote closer public-private partnerships for improving workers’ well-being, safety and health in the region.

The Ministry of Manpower of Singapore hosted the 5th Awards Ceremony. The awards were previously hosted by Myanmar in 2022, Lao PDR in 2021, Cambodia in 2018 and Viet Nam in 2016.
