On Friday, 28 July, the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) signed the Record of Discussions with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the ASEAN-JICA Food Value Chain Development Project. Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Economic Community Satvinder Singh and Chief Representative to ASEAN Yasui Takehiro signed for their respective organisations.

The signing reflects mutual confirmation on the basic plan and implementation arrangements to be executed for three years starting from 2023. The project aims to support ASEAN in strengthening the implementation of ASEAN’s good agriculture practices, sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures, fisheries value chain, and Public-Private Partnership on the food value chain.
