YANGON, 27 November 2013 — An ASEAN publication entitled “SME Guidebook Towards the AEC 2015” was officially launched on 25 November at the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Agencies Working Group (SMEWG) Meeting. The publication aims to support SMEs as the region prepares for the implementation of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.
In his remarks, H.E. U Maung Myint, Union Minister, Ministry of Industry of Myanmar, commended the SMEWG for its efforts to launch the SME publication and directory aimed at enhancing greater awareness of small and medium enterprises to a wide range of financial facilities, financial and non-financial institutions available for SMEs in all ten ASEAN member states as well as the market opportunities in ASEAN and beyond.
Besides, the SME Guidebook provides an avenue for SME Agencies – the policy makers responsible for SME development in the region, for exchanges of good practices and lessons learned in implementing policy and initiatives to enhance SMEs’ access to finance, market and internationalization of SME. For SMEs, chambers of commerce, industry and business community at large, this SME Guidebook provides them with key messages, implications and benefits of the measures, standards, regulations or agreements being implemented by various sectoral bodies under the purview of the ASEAN Economic Community pillar.
The SME Guidebook Towards the AEC 2015 is available for download on ASEAN website (www.asean.org).
