More than 50 policymakers and industry leaders from across ASEAN gathered for the virtual Regional Policy Roundtable, “Digital Trade in Motion: Tackling E-Commerce Headwinds and Policy Priorities in ASEAN,” held in conjunction with the 6th ASEAN Online Sale Day. The event explored the concept of digital trade in motion—the seamless cross-border movement of goods, services, and data that underpins today’s global economy. Speakers included representatives from ASEAN Member States, with MATRADE Malaysia as 2025 Chair of the AOSD Task Force and the Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry as the incoming 2026 ASEAN Chair, alongside experts from the Tech for Good Institute and the World Economic Forum who provided an introduction on the opportunities and challenges of E-Commerce in ASEAN. A panel discussion on e-commerce headwinds and policy priorities brought together industry voices from 1Export, the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (represented by Amazon), and Zetrix to address regulatory and operational pressures, digital trust, online scams, and the growing need for AI integration in the region’s digital trade landscape.
