DA NANG, 24 February 2023 – Today, the ASEAN Secretariat convened the 5th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM) Working Group on Prevention and Mitigation (WG P&M).

The aim was essentially to provide strategic directions for 2023 and report on the progress of activities under the Priority Programme 1 and 2 of the Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER) Work Programme 2021-2025.

Members of the WG P&M included representatives from nine (9) ASEAN Member States, namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Disaster Management & Humanitarian Assistance (AHA Centre). Representatives from the United Nations and AADMER Partnership Group presented progress of their works in the open sessions.
