Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn attended the ASEAN Post Ministerial Conference with Canada in Jakarta. The meeting noted the finalisation of a Joint Statement on ASEAN-Canada Strategic Partnership and looked forward to its adoption at the ASEAN-Canada Summit to Launch ASEAN-Canada Strategic Partnership set on the sidelines of the 43rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in September 2023.

The meeting also noted the launch of Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy in December 2022 and welcomed the progress of the Trade Negotiating Committee for the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement as well as discussed regional and international issues.
