ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with Canada reaffirms Strategic Partnership and charts out its future direction

The ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with Canada was held in Vientiane, Lao PDR, today, attended by the ASEAN Foreign Ministers or their representatives, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Mélanie Joly and Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn. Timor-Leste attended as an Observer. The Meeting reviewed the progress of ASEAN-Canada cooperation in light of the launch of the ASEAN-Canada Strategic Partnership in 2023 and charted its future direction. The Ministers took note of and commended the progress made in the ongoing negotiations of ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement. The Ministers agreed to develop a new Plan of Action to guide both sides in realising the full potential of the Strategic Partnership over the next five years.
