The ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with Russia was held today in Vientiane, attended by the ASEAN Foreign Ministers or their representatives, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov and Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn. Timor-Leste attended as an Observer. The Meeting adopted the Joint Statement of ASEAN and Russia Foreign Ministers Commemorating the 20^th Anniversary of Russia’s Accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) which emphasises the continuing importance of the TAC to sustaining peace and stability in the region. The Meeting also called for effective implementation of the ASEAN-Russia Comprehensive Plan of Action (2021-2025) and reaffirmed both sides’ commitment to deepen their partnership.
