The ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with the United States (U.S.) was held today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Meeting reviewed the progress of the ASEAN-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discussed its future direction, and commended the full implementation of all measures in the Plan of Action to Implement the ASEAN-U.S. Strategic Partnership (2021-2025) and its Annex ahead of their expiration date at the end of 2025. The Meeting also noted the good progress made in the negotiation of the ASEAN-U.S. Leaders’ Joint Vision Statement which reaffirms both sides’ commitment to strengthening cooperation and maintaining regional peace, stability, and prosperity, expected to be adopted at the 13th ASEAN-U.S. Summit in October 2025. The Meeting was attended by the ASEAN Foreign Ministers or their representatives, U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn. Timor-Leste attended as Observer.
