The 14th ASEAN-Republic of Korea (ROK) Joint Planning and Review Committee (JPRC) met today at the ASEAN Secretariat. The Meeting reviewed the implementation of ASEAN-ROK joint cooperation activities covering the three pillars of political-security, economic, and socio-cultural over the past year. The Meeting also charted out future direction for the effective implementation of joint activities under the ASEAN-ROK Plan of Action to realise the Joint Declaration on ASEAN-ROK Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity.

Co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Latsamy KEOMANY, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Lao PDR to ASEAN and Mr. SUH Jeong-In, Deputy Director-General for South Asian and Pacific Affairs Bureau of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the ROK, the meeting underlined the ROK’s expression to commit its support for the implementation of ASEAN’s Master Plan on Connectivity. Also participating in the meeting were other Permanent Representatives of ASEAN Member States to ASEAN and their representatives and the ASEAN Secretariat. The ROK will soon establish its Mission to ASEAN in Jakarta to further enhance its cooperation and coordination of activities with ASEAN.

The JPRC also called upon the ASEAN-ROK Centre in Seoul to continue implementing activities that will contribute to the strengthening of ASEAN-ROK cooperation in trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people contacts. The ROK stressed its commitment to follow-up on all the proposals made at the 14th ASEAN-ROK Summit in November 2011 in Bali, Indonesia.
