Themed “Young ASEAN-Young Russia: Greater Youth Connectivity,” the summit aimed to enhance the role of youth in promoting awareness of ASEAN and the Russian Federation’s Dialogue Relations. About 100 youth participants in the junior and senior years in university attended the summit. They discussed and shared experiences related to their culture and tradition which provided a good platform to bring about multi-cultural dimension of cooperation.

“The two-day Youth Summit certainly served as a useful platform for  young people from ASEAN Member States and Russia to share their views on how to build a greater youth connectivity to promote friendship, strengthen close cooperation and networking among the ASEAN and Russian youths,” said Prak Sokhonn, Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia.

The summit also aimed to keep the momentum of the ASEAN-Russia Youth Summit which has provided young people from ASEAN and Russia with institutional, organisational, and intellectual opportunities to share their views and design practically-oriented measures on how to strengthen cooperation between ASEAN and Russia in the years to come.

Recommended follow-up actions included, among others, institutionalising the summit as a permanent platform for the youth of AMS and Russia; promoting educational and sport exchanges, internship, cultural visits and exhibitions; and establishing ASEAN-Russia youth academic journal.
