JAKARTA, 2 August 2023 – The 15th Annual Dialogue between Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn and the Federation of Japanese Chambers of Commerce and Industry in ASEAN (FJCCIA) took place at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta today.
At the dialogue, Dr Kao Kim Hourn highlighted the event’s timeliness as this year marks the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation. To honour the special occasion, ASEAN and Japan agreed to build a new partnership that anchors on innovation and sustainability.
Dr Kao welcomed the contribution of Japanese businesses in realising the “ASEAN-Japan Co-Creation Vision” which encourages collaboration among private sector players to strengthen the supply chain networks and promote digital transformation while ensuring sustainability.
Uedo Hiroyuku, Chairman of FJCCIA and President of Jakarta Japan Club, conveyed the recommendations from FJCCIA which are centred around advancing economic integration, inclusive digital transformation, actions towards a more sustainable and resilient future, and promotion of human capital development.
The dialogue was also attended by key individuals from Japan including the Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN Kiya Masahiko and Executive Vice President of Japan External Trade Organisation Kawada Mio.
The FJCCIA represents more than 7,300 Japanese businesses and investors operating in ASEAN Member States.
