The ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) convened today in Penang, Malaysia, to deliberate on key Chairmanship priorities in preparation for the 58^th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Post-Ministerial Conferences in July 2025, including advancing ASEAN Community-building efforts and enhancing ASEAN’s external relations. The Meeting was attended by ASEAN SOM Leaders and the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASEAN Political-Security Community. Timor-Leste attended as Observer.

The Meeting marks the start of a series of SOM-level meetings with ASEAN’s Partners.
