ASEAN specialists trained for biological safety in Vladivostok

VLADIVOSTOK, 25 March 2022 – This year, ASEAN and the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) continue their cooperation in the field of prevention and control of infectious diseases.

 

The cooperation is under the umbrella of “Using Modern Molecular Genetic Technologies in Ensuring Biological Safety Complex Training of ASEAN Member States’ Specialists” project.

 

This project is currently being implemented with support from the ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Partnership Financial Fund. It is part of an initiative proposed by the President of the Russian Federation at the 3rd Russia-ASEAN Summit held in Singapore in 2018.

 

On 21-25 March, Rospotrebnadzor began the next stage of training for representatives of the ASEAN Member States on the use of modern molecular genetic technologies in ensuring biological safety. This training seminar was the first in a series of educational cycles planned by Rospotrebnadzor, with a total of five training seminars and practical training courses which will be held throughout 2022.

 

Held in Vladivostok, the training was conducted based on the International Research Centre of Rospotrebnadzor for the study of problems of biological safety and sanitary, and epidemiological welfare of the population in the Asia-Pacific region.

 

This was also carried out under the guidance of representatives of Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor and Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of G.P. Somov.
