BANGKOK, 29 September 2017 – Representatives from eight ASEAN countries participated in a training on “Accreditation Marketing and Awareness Raising at the National Level” on 19-21 September in Bangkok. The workshop was the second of a series of three workshops to provide a structured process for training of key personnel within the ASEAN accreditation bodies or related institutions. It followed on from the first workshop which covered fundamental principles and strategy for marketing and awareness raising.

Accreditation is a key service needed by industry and government authorities.  Operating in the public interest across all market sectors, accreditation determines the technical competence, reliability and integrity of conformity assessment bodies which check conformity and compliance with standards and regulations.  Additionally, it works through a process of transparent and impartial evaluation of these organisations against internationally recognised standards and other requirements.

Participants gained practical tools to improve the effectiveness of their organisations’ communications, and covered the planning and development of websites, search engine optimisation, website analytics, website best practice, layout, design and mix of marketing materials.

This initiative is part of the strategy of the ASEAN Consultative Committee on Standards and Quality (ACCSQ) Working Group on Conformity Assessment to promote recognition and acceptance of conformity assessment results.

The workshop was organised and supported by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB – the National Metrology Institute of Germany) and is a component of the ASEAN – PTB project “Improving Quality Infrastructure in ASEAN” which contributes to the implementation of the ACCSQ Standards and Conformance Strategic Plan 2016 – 2025.
