Bahrain hosts virtual capacity building for ASEAN Secretariat

In an effort to substantiate its cooperation with ASEAN, Bahrain hosted a virtual capacity building for ASEAN Secretariat staff today. The activity was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain and preceded by a virtual Opening Ceremony, during which the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Political-Security Community, Dato’ Astanah Abdul Aziz, and the Undersecretary for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, delivered opening remarks. Participants from relevant desks under all ASEAN Community pillars at the ASEAN Secretariat and the representatives from Bahrain also joined the activity.

The lectures provided ASEAN Secretariat staff with knowledge on Bahrain’s diplomacy in regional and global levels, including an understanding of internal structure and mechanism of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) with a view to implement outcomes of the 1st ASEAN-GCC Summit held last year in Riyadh. The lectures also delved into Bahrain’s economy and state of affairs, as well as its key initiatives in relations to promoting interreligious dialogue.

During the virtual course, lecturers from Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Finance and National Economy as well as Bahrain’s King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence and the participants engaged in a candid and lively discussions.
