The past three decades of ASEAN successful cooperation calls for celebration. ASEAN has achieved high level of success in the pursuit of its aims and purposes laid down in the Bangkok Declaration of 1967, namely, the acceleration of the economic growth, social progress and cultural development and the promotion of regional peace and stability. The Declaration also called for the participation of all States in Southeast Asian in the Association. With peace and stability prevailing, ASEAN Member Countries have experienced sustained economic development and socio-cultural progress. Today, ASEAN is regarded as one of the most dynamic regions in the world and some of its members of its members have joined the ranks of newly-industrialization economies.
