This book attempts to treat the ASEAN economies as an integral whole. to enable a wide range of important topics to be covered in this limited volume some rigour is inevitably sacrificed for generality. However, there is no lack of specialised county monographs dealing with various aspects of the individual ASEAN economies. There is a need for this kind of study to present a critical perspective on the ASEAN economies as a whole to a wider audience.
