The ASEAN Model Contractual Clauses (ASEAN MCCs) and EU Standard Contractual Clauses (EU SCCs) are model data protection clauses (“clauses”) that can be incorporated by data exporters and importers in their contractual arrangements as a basis to allow the transfer of personal data across borders. The clauses are a voluntary tool to ensure personal data continues to benefit from a high level of protection in cases of international transfers, and to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements for international data transfers in this regard. This concerns requirements following the ASEAN Member States’ legal frameworks and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the ASEAN MCCs and EU SCCs respectively.
