Author:Thuta Aung
Abstract
Although democracy returned to Myanmar in 2011, foreign investors keep their distance because laws are in flux. Entrepreneur Thuta Aung wants to change that. He knows Myanmar with its rich culture, is a great country with many wonderful investment opportunities. Born in Myanmar, Aung grew up under the shadow of a dictatorship. While studying and working abroad, he learned about corporate social responsibility (CSR), an initiative encouraging sustainable development by delivering economic, social, and environmental benefits for corporations and citizens. After returning home to newly democratic Myanmar, he saw the economy struggling through the political transition so he created HamsaHub, a company dedicated to nurturing business ventures and promoting CSR. This book is an indispensable guide to Myanmar culture, politics, and business environment for those wishing to become a part of a market on the cusp of success. Aung shares what potential investors need to know about the current state of the nation economy, resources, educational system, tourism market, aid industry, and much more. He also discusses the advantages of taking action now.
