Basically it covers the period beginning roughly in 1986 , with the introduction into Asia of the new technology of film, and ending a century later more precisely, in 1997, the year originally targeted by the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information as the publication date a book on the film culture of the countries comprising the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN).
