JAKARTA, 1 March 2024 – Today, ASEAN officially launched the call for nominations for ASEAN Prize 2024. Entering its seventh year, the ASEAN Prize is an annual regional award honoring the outstanding individuals and organisations based in ASEAN in recognition of their contributions and accomplishment to the ASEAN Community building efforts.
The selected ASEAN Prize Recipient 2024 will receive a trophy that will be presented at a key ASEAN event under the Lao PDR Chairmanship, and a monetary prize of US$20,000 sponsored by Temasek Foundation of Singapore.
Eligible ASEAN individuals and organisations are invited to file their application by elaborating their achievements that fall under the following actions:
- Outstanding collaboration between ASEAN Member States (AMSs);
- Outstanding collaboration between ASEAN and the world;
- Outstanding people-to-people engagement among AMSs;
- Outstanding economic integration and promotion of standards between AMSs;
- Other outstanding contributions to ASEAN Community Building;
The ASEAN Prize represents the region’s commitment in honouring individuals and organisations that have steadfastly contributed to the development of a resilient ASEAN Community, demonstrating concrete efforts in fostering regional integration, all the while forging an inclusive and stronger ASEAN identity.
The call for nomination for ASEAN Prize 2024 is open from 1 March to 31 May 2024. Submissions must be made through the National Focal Points of the respective ASEAN Member State. Applicants must submit the completed ASEAN Prize 2024 nomination form, providing detailed information as well as the nominee’s future initiatives.
Applications must be accompanied by supporting documents which entail the nominee’s concrete contributions and achievements for the region. A character reference accompanying the supporting documents highlighting the nominee’s eligibility would be preferred.
The ASEAN Prize will not consider self-nominations and posthumous submissions.
The Judging Committee Meeting for ASEAN Prize, chaired by Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, will convene intensive assessments to select this year’s recipient. The panel of judges for ASEAN Prize 2024 comprises of former living and current Secretaries-General of ASEAN.
Since its inauguration in 2018, a total of four individuals and two organisations have received the ASEAN Prize. Last year, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh, an advocate for women socio-economic empowerment from Viet Nam, was selected as the ASEAN Prize Recipient following her resolute dedication to empower women within regional business community. Her unwavering commitment has led her to cultivate an inclusive and sustainable economy towards the ASEAN Community.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo conferred the ASEAN Prize trophy to Nguyen Minh, together with the 2022 ASEAN Prize Recipient Muhammad Iqbal Damit, at the opening ceremony of the 43rd ASEAN Summit last year in Jakarta.

Details on the nomination and eligibility for ASEAN Prize 2024
- Nomination calls start on 1 March 2024.
- The nominee must be an ASEAN citizen or an ASEAN-based organisation.
- The nominee shall submit valid/verifiable documents and highlight his/her achievement and influence on ASEAN since the launch of the ASEAN Community on 31 December 2015.
- The nominee should also share future initiatives detailing how the cited work will continue after winning thePrize.
All nominations must be submitted to the ASEAN National Focal Point by 31 May 2024 at 5pm, GMT+7 (Jakarta time).
