ASEAN Secretary-General, H.E. Le Luong Minh suggested ASEAN and Indian officials continue discussions and intensify efforts to concretise actions up to 2015, in-line with the vision set out by Leaders of ASEAN and India. He also encouraged both sides to study the important recommendations in the Report of the ASEAN-India Eminent Persons Group presented to the 10th ASEAN-India Summit in November 2012. SG Minh spoke during The Delhi Dialogue V, aptly themed “ASEAN-India: Vision for Partnership and Prosperity,” that was held in New Delhi, India on 19-20 February 2013.

To reinforce ASEAN-India cooperation, one of the major goals of the Dialogue is to further discuss matters arising from the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit held in December 2012, as well as to intensify engagement between ASEAN and India in the coming years.

The External Minister of India, H.E. Shri Salman Khurshid inaugurated the Dialogue that featured four plenary sessions in the presence of H.E. Le Luong Minh, Secretary-General of ASEAN, and a number of prominent dignitaries from ASEAN Member States and India. SG Minh held separate bilateral meetings with his Indian counterparts, Minister Salman Khurshid and H.E. Anand Sharma, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Textile, to discuss ways and means to bring closer collaboration between ASEAN and India.

H.E. Le Luong Minh also had the opportunity to visit his alma mater, the Jawaharlal Nehru University—where he studied in the early to mid-1970s—and gave a public lecture and interacted with its faculty members and students.
