The Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Economic Community, Satvinder Singh, attended AEM-Director General of World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Interface Meeting on 18 September 2024 in Vientiane, Lao PDR. 

The Meeting discussed the progress made under the ASEAN-WIPO Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) since its inception in August 2023 and emphasised the need to expedite the MoU to advance ASEAN’s innovation through intellectual property (IP) commercialisation and digital technology integration. The Meeting also reaffirmed their support for the IP Register as a vital regional initiative for SMEs, startups, innovators, and investors within ASEAN by enhancing the effective protection, management, and commercialisation of their innovations.
