H.E. San Lwin, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC), received a courtesy call from H.E. Joanna Anderson, Ambassador of New Zealand to ASEAN, on 19 June 2026 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the implementation of the ASEAN–New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and ways to further strengthen cooperation in support of ASEAN’s socio-cultural priorities.

The discussion highlighted opportunities for collaboration under the newly established ASEAN–New Zealand Vision Fund, including initiatives that promote inclusive, resilient, and people-centred development across the ASEAN region. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of strengthening partnerships that contribute to social development, human capital development, community resilience, and sustainable development outcomes.

The meeting underscored New Zealand’s continued commitment as a longstanding ASEAN Dialogue Partner and Comprehensive Strategic Partner. It also reaffirmed the shared commitment of ASEAN and New Zealand to deepen cooperation and advance the goals of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 through practical and impactful socio-cultural collaboration.
