Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, H.E. San Lwin, welcomed the Secretary General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) during a courtesy visit, 11 December 2024. DSG San Lwin reaffirmed the ASEAN Secretariat’s commitment to working closely with AIPA to align executive and legislative priorities, particularly on Women’s Political Participation and Leadership as well as Youth Engagement.

The discussion also touched on opportunities for deeper collaboration in advancing regional initiatives and strengthening the alignment of AIPA’s work with ASEAN’s strategic goals. Both sides acknowledged the importance of closer cooperation to address shared challenges and foster inclusive development across ASEAN member states.

AIPA is an entity associated with ASEAN listed under Annex II of ASEAN Charter. To date, ASEAN has eighty-one (81) entities associated with ASEAN.
