A delegation from the European Parliament visited the ASEAN Secretariat yesterday and exchanged experience on integration efforts. The delegation was also briefed on ASEAN’s latest development. The delegation, headed by the Chair of delegation for relations with the countries of ASEAN, Werner Langen, was welcomed by the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs, Bagas Hapsoro.

As part of the European Union’s continuous support for ASEAN in capacity building, Mr Langen proposed a possible programme of internship for ASEAN Secretariat officials. DSG Bagas thanked the EU for its assistance to ASEAN integration efforts. The DSG also said that ASEAN saw the EU as an inspiration.
