Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn today attended the inaugural ASEAN Think Tanks Summit (ATTS), which was convened at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta. Organised by the ASEAN Institutes of Strategic and International Studies (ASEAN-ISIS) Network, as coordinated by the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA), with support from the ASEAN Secretariat and the GIZ of the German Federal Foreign Office, the ATTS was opened by Dr. Kao, who delivered a keynote speech. The 2-day event, which gathered over 50 scholars, research experts and academia from across the region, deliberated and exchanged thoughts on pressing geopolitical and economic challenges facing ASEAN today. The ATTS is expected to produce specific concrete strategic recommendations and be elevated for guidance at the forthcoming 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits, scheduled to be held in Vientiane, Lao PDR, in October 2024.
