JAKARTA, 29 August 2024 – The 14th Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Task Force-ASEAN Partners Consultation Meeting took place today, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to enhance regional development and integration. The meeting, held alongside the third IAI Task Force Meeting of the year, brought together 19 partner representatives and welcomed Timor-Leste as an observer.
Ambassador Aung Myo Myint, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to ASEAN and Chair of the IAI Task Force for 2024, expressed his gratitude to the partners for their continued support in addressing regional development gaps and advancing ASEAN’s integration and community-building objectives.
The meeting underscored that Timor-Leste has recently been accepted as a beneficiary of the IAI, joining Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Viet Nam. ASEAN’s external partners welcomed this move and reaffirmed their strong commitment to deepening collaboration with ASEAN through the IAI.
