1. The Tenth Cambodia – Lao PDR – Myanmar – Viet Nam (CLMV) Economic Ministers’ Meeting (EMM) was held on 28 August 2018 in Singapore. The Meeting was chaired by H.E. Tran Quoc Khanh, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Viet Nam (representing H.E. Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of Industry and Trade, Viet Nam).
2. The Ministers noted the favourable growth of CLMV’s trade and investment. CLMV’s merchandise trade continued on an upward trend, not only in terms of value but also as percentage of ASEAN’s total trade. Preliminary data for 2017 indicated that CLMV’s total merchandise trade amounted to US$ 490.1 billion, which contributed 19.0 per cent to ASEAN’s total merchandise trade. Foreign direct investment into CLMV grew by 20.7 per cent in 2017 amounting to US$ 22.8 billion, compared to US$ 18.9 in 2016. CLMV’s contribution to the ASEAN’s total foreign direct investment grew from 15.4 per cent in 2016 to 16.7 per cent in 2017. Number of tourists into CLMV countries doubled since 2010, amounting to 22.2 million in 2016 compared to 10.9 million in 2010. Tourist arrivals into CLMV contributed 19.2 per cent to the ASEAN’s total tourist arrivals in 2016, compared to 14.7 per cent in 2010.

ASEAN organs always strive to achieve ASEAN’s goals and objectives, the Secretary-General of ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat shall be functioned as coordinating Secretariat to help facilitate effective decision-making withing and amongst ASEAN bodies. In addition, each Member State shall appoint a Permanent Representative to liaise with Secretary-General of ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat
