- The Twenty First AEM-India Consultation (AEM-India Consultation) was held on 20 September 2024 in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The Consultation was co-chaired by H.E. Malaithong KOMMASITH, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Lao PDR, and H.E. Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, India. The Meeting also welcomed the participation of H.E. Filipus Nino Pereira, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste who joined the Meeting as an observer.
- The Meeting noted that, based on preliminary ASEAN statistics, two-way trade between ASEAN and India in 2023 reached USD 100.7 billion. Meanwhile total foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows from India reached USD 5.6 billion in 2023. The Meeting also noted that India was ASEAN’s eighth largest trade partner and the eighth largest source of FDI among ASEAN Dialogue Partners in 2023.
