- The 30th ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council Meeting was held on 29 August 2023 in Jakarta, Indonesia, under the ASEAN Chairpersonship of Indonesia.
- The Meeting commended Indonesia for its 2023 ASEAN Chairmanship with the theme “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth,” which underscores ASEAN commitment to ensure its continued relevance, resilience, effectiveness, and responsiveness to future regional and global challenges, and its vision to be the center and driver of economic growth in the region and beyond. The Meeting looked forward to the realisation of priorities which are guided by Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship’s three priority pillars namely: (i) ASEAN Matters; (ii) Epicentrum of Growth; and (iii) Implementation of ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific. As the Peoples’ Pillar, the Meeting appreciated the dedication and hard work of the Senior Officials Committee for the ASCC (SOCA) in driving positive change and advancing the interests of the ASEAN citizens through its work in the ASCC.
