SINGAPORE, 13 October 2023 – Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), in collaboration with the Republic Polytechnic of Singapore and the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC), concluded the 3rd Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Project Proposal Writing Training for Myanmar officials yesterday.

The Project Proposal Writing Training was conducted online on 3-12 October. The event was attended by 30 Myanmar officials from 24 ministries and agencies based in Naypyitaw, Yangon and Mandalay. The Republic Polytechnic of Singapore facilitated the first part of the training on 3-6 October while ASEC continued the second part on 9-12 October.

ASEC trained the officials to develop regional project proposal and manage the ASEAN cooperation projects (ACPs) using a results-based management approach that includes budget formulation, fund disbursements, and reporting. Meanwhile, the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund Management Team (JMT) shared relevant information and experiences on project proposal formulation, implementation, and monitoring from an ASEAN partner’s perspective.

At the training, participants also learned about the mechanisms to access available resources with the ACPs and the processes throughout the ASEAN project cycle.

Following the four-day training with ASEC, participants developed four drafts of regional project proposals on awareness-raising for natural disaster management, research on the impact of air pollution in ASEAN region, MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) development in CLM (Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Myanmar) countries, and development of MSME product and service centre website.
