ASEAN recognises the multi-faceted nature of maritime issues and therefore commits to a holistic, integrated and comprehensive approach to address them. Maritime cooperation constitutes an important component of the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Blueprint, which calls for, among others, the establishment of the ASEAN Maritime Forum (AMF) and a comprehensive approach that focuses on the safety of navigation and security issues in the region that are of common concern to ASEAN.
